What is Get Sourced
One day, I was looking for a project that I could contribute to on github. It was hard finding one that suits my skills and on same level as me. Most were either too complicated or I felt like my contributions could be thrown under the bus because to me, what changes could I certainly make to a senior level code.
As a developer, I feel like engaging in open source projects will open opportunities for me to sharpen my skills and probably land a role or internship as a junior. I did not have that luxury in finding such projects so I decided to build this tool with good user interface and experience so that I will always get back to it to find what is happening in the Tech space.
What Get Sourced Offer
Get sourced utilizes the power of github API to bring you anything that is happening on github. You have the option to filter by stars, primary language and date of repository creation. The list provide you with the number of forks, languages, author and so much more. By clicking on a repo, it takes you directly to the github page.
I also added a file sharing section that allows you to share files anywhere around the world with the power of web socket.
What Is Next
There are couple of things I want to do going forward with this project;
- I would like to get a proper domain name and subscribe for premium for github API so I can add more features and have unlimited browse as the free version has limited calls.
- I would like to add discussion section where developer can discuss on trending topics
- I will also add communities
